Descrição: CAFY: Culture Adapted for Youth is a training course for youth workers that CAFY aims at generating spaces for reflection and action among EU trainers on the accessibility and inclusion of people with functional diversity to artistic spaces and future cultural projects.
It is estimated that 25% of the European population is affected by some form of disability, , according to data presented in the Commission for the Comprehensive Disability Policies of the Congress of Deputies held in 2015. Despite this, most of the environments we travel through are not accessible to all people, including those linked to art and culture. On the one hand, the collective of people with functional diversity faces daily physical, sensory and cognitive barriers, in addition to sociocultural, legal, and mental, when accessing these spaces and their proposals as a public, limiting their access to knowledge and leisure.
On the other hand, these people often encounter so many other difficulties to be considered artists and participate in cultural projects, their participation is boycotted. This double standard, both as a visitor and as an artist, made spaces and organisations create inclusive options, eliminating the barriers through technology, media installations to attract the participation of diverse people.

In our daily work as youth workers we should fight these issues with the teenagers and youngsters we work with, that is why we consider it necessary to generate a space for reflection and action between european youth workers around the accessibility of people with functional diversity in artistic spaces, as a member of the public and as a participant, with the intention of sharing experiences, generating new knowledge and making their participation possible in future cultural projects..
During 5 days, the 8 professionals from 7 different organisations will participate in talks, workshops, debates and activities around the promotion of the inclusion of people with functional diversity in the cultural field: diagnosis of the current situation, awareness of the identified barriers and proposal of technological, communicative and social measures to involve the collective.
All this accompanied by the discussion and reflection on the situation in each country and the initiatives that have been carried out there..
