Resumo: The project aim is to help young Europeans to understand the role of food in the daily life, giving the opportunity to discover good practices for a sustainable lifestyle and to create short video addressed to other Europeans

Main topics:
- food and Health
- food and Environment
- food and Inequalities

The main topics are
1. FOOD AND HEALTH
Health depends a lot on nutrition both in relation to the diet choice, and to the quality of the food. Through
the activities we will help the participants to reflect on their food consumption and to learn some tools and
suggestions for a healthier consumption. Moreover, as health is strongly related to sport, every day the
participants will join a short session of sport activity to keep fit and reflect on the benefits of physical activity
for their wellness.

2. FOOD AND ENVIRONMENT
During this historical period, it is clear that the environmental issue is very important, and a topic that has
generated a lot of debate and mobilization among young European citizens, and that is strictly related to
food consumption. It is definitely important to discuss in order to understand how to face this emergency,
with the awareness that a change can happen starting from the daily life and habits, above all related to diet.
At the same time a particular attention will be focused on the economic aspects related to food. Not always
a higher price means higher quality, but, instead, a lot of products can be made quickly at home, eating well
for a lower cost.

3. FOOD AND CULTURE
Food has always been a social tie that keeps together traditions and cultures. In order to build a unique
European demos with a social composition permeated of common traditions and habits, becomes
fundamental that different cultures meet and discover each other sharing their habits and origins, in order
to create, also through food, a great European culture. For this reason, participants will teach to each other
recipes from their country and will learn to cook some dishes from young asylum seekers.

Objectivos: • Reflect with the participants on some of the problems related to food (diseases, inequalities, climate,
exploitation of resources and workers..)
• Build an intercultural experience from the topic of food (including the meeting with asylum seekers
hosted in the same residence housing where the exchange takes place.)
• Allow the participants to live a group experience in a place engaged in education, production of some
products and hospitality.
• Educate young people to an healthy and sustainable food consumption
• Give tools and competences for the management of personal food consumption
• Know and share good practices related to food consumption and reduction of waste.
• Build with the participants an innovative and effective storytelling on the topics of the project.
• Make young people activators in the change process starting from the families and communities they
belong to.

Perfil: Age: 18-25

Descrição: Everyday each of us has to do with food: for necessity, for taste, for passion, for trend. The food issue is full
of problems and details related to awareness, wellness and to the responsibility of the consumers, thus of
the citizens.
Here are some issues:

1. HEALTH
Since the beginning of the 21st century, we assist in Europe to a growing and worrying increase in the personal caloric consumption and in the obesity rate among young people.
The change in the lifestyle, the reduction of physical activity, the increasing sedentariness and the spread of junk food has strongly affected the situation. Moreover WHO has calculates that about one-third of
cardiovascular diseases are related to bad dietary habits, demonstrating how a wrong diet has complex consequences for our body.

2. ENVIRONMENT
Food, like all our consumption, is deeply related to environmental issue. In the EU about 88 million tonnes of food waste are produced every year, which is about 173 kg per person. Everyday precious and often limited resources are wasted, contributing to the unnecessary exploitation of environmental resources and to the growth of global inequalities.

3. INEQUALITIES AND EXPLOITATION
On one side we find those who waste, on the other side those who cannot access to a good quality or are victims of the globalized model and of the large-scale retail distribution. Very often big multinational companies decide the rules of the market, damaging small companies, the freedom of choice of consumers, the quality and safety standards of food. The price of a product can increase more than seven times from the camp to the table because of distortion and speculation along the chain, but only a few gain from this process, while many see their work underpaid or do not have enough resources to satisfy their dietary needs in an healthy way.

In a globalized world, food is thus a deeply relevant issue for our future, in particular for young people. They
are more used to a fast kitchen, globalized, not healthy, but can also be activators of change starting from
their family and the area they live. It is necessary to start a cultural revolution and young people can be
protagonist of this change.
