Resumo: In the 21st century citizenship has gone digital, giving us choice over how to contribute to society. We can spread messages quickly across the globe and have conversations with people. There are different online platforms where to share experiences, encourage each other and become active citizens. A form of citizenship has emerged through digital storytelling and its most popular form is blogging.

Trentino-Alto Adige is an autonomous region of Italy at the border with Austria (before World
War I Austrian territory), where people have always lived in a condition of passage between two different countries, languages and cultures. They have always felt the need to create a strong connection with their territory, giving them a certain security, beyond any national sovereignty. Due to this we can say that here the regional identity is perceived stronger than the national one. In addition, the geographic shape of the territory, made of valleys divided from high mountains, makes difficult to reach some villages that have developed slightly different traditions and dialects, resulting in making its people become more estranged from other influences. The idea of Active Citizenship in this region needs to be enlarged to a national and european vision, making the inhabitants feel part of a European community and understanding that everyone can contribute to it. InCo is convinced that new online platforms are a new immediate way to be active citizens and wants to promote this idea with a non-formal education project about blogging. InCo supports the idea that virtual world can be a way to get connected with others and become more active. People always have something to say and blogs provide a place to say it and be heard. Moreover this project will help citizens of Trento to improve their communication skills, to reflect about different forms of storytelling and to get equipped with useful technical tools, abilities and practical information on howto run a blog.

Furthermore, this kind of project helps to intensify the intercultural dialogue, which contributes to widen points of view and exchange experiences not only for Trento citizens but also for partner countries’ participants. Working with international people facilitates understanding of the importance of participation in intercultural dialogue and the power of young generations. International groups make a huge contribution to the project and in turn they receive valuable experience in the field of the covered topics. Sharing their experiences, that have shaped and empowered their lives in different ways is a crucial point for the project, because we support the idea of creating a balanced and socially active European community. We believe this project will help both Italian and international participants in making one step closer to active European citizenship.

Objectivos: Media Literacy is recognized as 21st century approach to education. It provides a framework to access, evaluate and create messages in a variety of forms. One of those forms is blogging - a way to communicate and to connect with the specific audience available online. Blogging is a creative and innovative tool to inform and educate people adequately, effectively and in an interesting way.

The main aim of the Youth Exchange is to raise awareness about Active Citizenship and facilitate participants’ understanding of the power of blogging as an opinion-shaping instrument and thus its social role in raising up active European citizens.

The objectives of YE:
● To raise awareness about Media Literacy and Digital Participation among participants
● To support the participants in exploring the concept of Active Citizenship not only in everyday life but also throughout ICT tools, namely online platforms for blogging
● To raise awareness of participants about importance of online communication for shaping and sharing opinions among young people
● To increase participants’ teamwork ability as well as their strategic thinking and to put in practice theoretical knowledge about the subject
● To provide participants with technical tools, abilities and practical information on how to create a blog and develop it.
