Resumo: "Juventud Invisible" is the third appointment of a youth exchange between young people from Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain. The main thems are "Youth Policies" and "Discrimination".

The first part was realized in Berlin in summer 2012, from 29/7 to 5/8/2012. Here we found out what discrimination means related with the resulting effects of a rising "radical right" or "ultraconservative" political tendency. We acted against this problem together with the berliner participants.

The second youth exchange took place in Naples from 27/12/2013 to 3/1/2014 and it was focused discrimination and youth policies in relationship with youth migrants (not only) and discrimination against people from disadvantaged areas in the periphery and industrial areas, against people with a low social status, Roma community, gay and other communities.

In this third meeting, dated from10/07/2014 to 20/07/2014 in Candás, we want to find out and discuss solutions specially focused in discrimination with the economical/financial crisis that we're living in Spain and Europe, and with a perspective from the countryside areas. In addition to this, we want to analyze the situation of ethnic minorities, specially the Roma community in Asturias, Spain and Europe.

Alojamento: Food and accommodation

About food: breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided by COSARA during the exchange so you don't spend your own money for food. If there are certain “luxury” products that you can’t live without or during your free time you want to eat in a restaurant, you will have to pay it yourself.
Vegetarians are always welcomed but don’t forget to warn the staff so we can manage a different menu.

The activity program contains cultural evenings, where each group has the possibility to present some aspects of its own culture in different ways (with a short presentation of the country, folk music, dance...). During these evenings every group will have the possibility to show the traditional food of its country, cooking the dinner for all the other groups. COSARA will be happy to furnish you all the ingredients easy to find everywhere and to help you to share with us your culinary culture. However, sometimes is not easy to find especially ingredients (that you know, there are only in your country) so it is hoped that you can provide, bringing from your country, what you need for this special evening.

About accommodation: we're staying at Hotel Piedra, a nice and quiet hotel in Perlora. We'll be sleeping in wooden cabins with comfortable beds. Each cabin has a bathroom. Linen and towels are provided.

Perfil: Young people between 18 and 30 years old

Descrição:

Candás is the capital of the Council of Carreño located in the region of Cabo Peñas (rocky Cape). It is a busy fishing town just few kilometers away from the cape and has a nice town centre, fishing port and the popular beach of Candás .
The county of Candás (Carreño) is home to the burial mounds of Mount Areo, which are one of the most important examples of Neolithic tombs in the North of Spain dating back to 5000 B.C.

In the13th century the town of Candás was home to one of the most important fishing fleets on the Cantabric Sea being very popular for fishing whales. The town operated as an important whale trading post between Asturias and Northern Europe and especially with the whaling community of Ireland.

Nowadays Candás relies mostly on tourism due to the natural environment, surroundings and proximity from the airport of Asturias but still maintains its connection to the sea and the fishing industry. The area also offers many walking routes and nice beaches so you can relax with a good book by the sea or enjoy a nice hike or other adventure activities along the cost. Candás (Carreño) is part of the “Northern Route“ of “Route of Santiago“, as you head way from Gijon travelling west.
Its gastronomy is based in traditional Asturian food and they enjoy very tasteful fresh fish and shellfish. It is also very popular for their traditional biscuits called “Marañuelas”.

In the month of July, Candas holds the “Pipe band festival” where some of the best Pipe bands and pipers gather from all over Europe to play alongside the traditional Asturian musicians.
Climate in Candás and Asturias is mostly warm and sunny in the summer. Temperature will be around 25ºC (Celsius) during the day. At night the temperatures can be a little lower. You can check the wheather in this website: http://www.eltiempo.es/candas.html. Remember we are by the beach so, don't forget your swimsuit!!
