Resumo: 'Mosaic of European Identity'' exchange gathers people from seven countries around the topics of identity formation, European identity, citizenship and history. In the course of six days, participants from Croatia, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Turkey will be engaged in activities through which they will discuss their views on identity and present their towns' histories, as well as the ways in which their local identities are formed. They will learn about Rijeka, a town that spent certain periods of the 19th and 20th century divided between two different countries and governing systems and that generally had a very turbulent history. Through city games, treasure hunts and other activities, participants will look into the origin, history and legends surrounding specific locations in Rijeka. They will also work on creation of a photo mosaic, by inserting pieces of buildings from their towns into the visual representation of the Governor's palace in Rijeka, that will symbolise the creation of the unique European Identity
Alojamento: Participants will be accommodated in one of the youth hostels close to Rijeka's city centre. Participants will be offered three meals every day. Youth hostel will be near the bus stations and market, with ATM and pharmacy in the circle of 500m. Public transportation stops by the hostel and directly drives to centre of the city. CTC workplace is in center of the city and near to all locations that will be visited during the exchange.
Descrição: Upon the arrival, participants will get a welcome package from the Croatian team. During the first day of exchange all participants will need to create Etiquette - Code of behavior that everyone will need to obey during the exchange. Afterwards, a get to know game will be organized - concrete game will be chosen on the spot but it will include mingling of participants. First day of exchange, participants will discuss their own understanding of identity and the ways that their civic identity is formed. The same will be done at the end of the exchange so that changes in their positions and understandings can be seen.
Participants will also share their expectations and goals they wish to achieve during the exchange. Every day of exchange will commence with breakfast and an ice breaker. After that, a workshop will be held. Each day one national team will hold a workshop and introduce the history of it's city(ies) to other participants through photos, videos and all other didactic tools they wish. Workshops will be followed by lunch after which the participants will travel to the city, to locations where they will get to know Rijeka.
Guidance on locations will not be arranged in a classic way but as interactive, through treasure hunts and city games. After sightseeing participants will have a Photoshop workshop where they will work on constructing the mosaic. Construction of the mosaic will be a creative task in which everyone will collaborate and try to combine their creativity, historical knowledge with new technologies. After the city activities, participants will return to the place of accommodation to have dinner. Every evening a national evening will be held where each national team will get the chance to represent their nation's culture through traditional music, food, drinks and clothes or any other means they would like to use to express their creativity. Last day of exchange the evaluation will be made. Participants will again share their opinions on identity and a comparison will be made to notes made on first day. All participants will get the chance to express their opinion on exchange, topics that have been discussed and goals that were achieved in comparison to those that were expected. Every participant will receive a Youthpass and a final photo will be taken.
